When I joined up at Curves at the end of March 2014 and started the Curves Complete program, it challenged me to do 10,000 steps per day.
In order to do this I tried to find ways to fit these into my days. Parkrun is a free weekly timed event run by volunteers, one is held every Saturday at Minnippi parklands
In April 2014 I walked my first parkrun - 5 kilometres it took me 52 minutes
After losing weight, building up my strength and fitness I started to enjoy these parkruns, by December 2014 I could jog the entire 5 km and my time got down to 34 minutes
I decided to take on this new found enjoyment and for my birthday in August 2015 I went to Sydney to compete in the City to Surf – jalking as i call it (a combination walk / jog) from Hyde Park in Sydney to Bondi Beach, nearly 15 km
Without the commitment I made to complete the Curves program and the support I got from you all at Curves Carina I would never have imagined this would be something I would do.
I now try to complete at least 1 fun run a month, and although I still struggle some days to get those 10,000 steps, I can regularly be found late at night doing laps of my lounge room to get me over the mark.
In September 2013 we had a family holiday to Far North Queensland, and the Great Barrier Reef.
I got to stand and paddle in the water, while the kids went out and snorkelled in the reef, why you ask, I would not wear swimmers.
After I started at Curves and started to lose weight and tone up, I started to like the new me and the body I saw in the mirror.
We went up to Mooloolaba for Christmas in 2014 and after nearly 20 years and two kids later I rocked the new bikini body I had worked so hard to achieve.
