Jodi Goes For Gold

“I have been working here at Curves Windsor now since Jan 2013 and probably hit over 350 workouts in that time.”

Curves staff member Jodi won gold in March this year at the 2014 National Championships and has been selected on the Australian team for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in July in Scotland for Long Jump.

This is Jodi's update on her training and preparation in her own words.

Jodi’s Story

I have been working here at Curves Windsor now since Jan 2013 and probably hit over 350 workouts in that time.  I won gold in March this year at the 2014 National Championships which got me selected on the Australian team for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in July in Scotland for Long Jump.

Before I started working here I competed at the 2012 London Paralympics as I have got Cerebral Palsy down the right side of the body. I had time away from exercise and enjoyed all the bad food and put on around 13kgs of weight.

Since being back into athletics around this time last year and working here I have lost around 17kg (at my heaviest I weighed 77.9Kg in March 2013). I am actually 4-5kg lighter now than I was in London.

My training involves a workout here in the mornings at Curves Windsor, then specific jumps, running or strength training in the afternoons. I train on average 5 afternoons a week at Homebush. My training right at this point for 3 weeks is base work so it means hard long sessions as well as building strength.

I am planning to do 4 competitions (3 in QLD and 1 in NSW) before heading to Glasgow. I compete on Sunday the 27th of July in Glasgow (everyone better be watching).
